eclipse-egit software package provides Eclipse Team provider for the Git version control system, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install eclipse-egit
eclipse-egit is installed in your system.
Make ensure the eclipse-egit package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep eclipse-egit *
You will get with eclipse-egit package name, version, architecture and description in a table
